Using Shockwave on the elbow

I am excited to announce that Innate Chiropractic now offers Radial Shockwave Therapy (RSWT). Shockwave therapy involves acoustic waves to treat musculoskeletal conditions, primarily through Focused (FSWT) and Radial (RSWT) types.

FSWT utilizes acoustic waves and penetrates deeper, focusing energy at specific points for deep chronic issues. RSWT produces superficial, low-to-medium energy waves that spread outwards from the applicator. FSWT delivers concentrated, high-energy acoustic waves to a specific, deep point (up to 12 cm deep) within tissues.

  • Best for: Calcific tendinitis, deep trigger points, and bone issues.
  • Mechanism: Uses electromagnetic, electrohydraulic, or piezoelectric generators

RSWT produces superficial, low-to-medium energy waves that spread outwards from the applicator. RSWT is ideal for soft tissue conditions. It generates its energy from a moving "bullet" in a tube within the applicator. This Kinetic Energy translates through the treatment head as a soundwave.

  • Best for: Superficial injuries, muscle activation, myofascial pain, and superficial tendinopathies.
  • Sensation: Feels similar to a massage gun (sometimes likened to a thera gun) but is higher energy.

Shockwave therapy treats chronic conditions by delivering penetrating shockwaves deep into soft tissue, inducing microtrauma and triggering a new inflammatory response. This prompts the body's natural healing mechanisms. The emitted energy also stimulates cells to release biochemicals, enhancing healing and fostering the formation of new blood vessels in the treated area.

Shockwave therapy treats conditions with calcifications, like tendons or joints, through cavitation. This process creates and collapses microscopic gas bubbles in calcified deposits, breaking them down. This restores tissue function and relieves symptoms of calcificationrelated conditions.

Common Conditions Treated Include:

  • Tennis Elbow
  • Golfers Elbow
  • De Quervain ’ s Disease
  • Trigger Finger
  • Carpal Tunnel
  • Plantar Fascitis
  • Neuropathy
  • Shoulder Calcific Tendonitis
  • Achilles Tendinopathy
  • Patellar Tendinopathy
  • Sciatica
  • Bones Spurs

Treatments are quick, affordable and courses of treatment for specific conditions are usually limited to 6-12 visits. It may feel spicy at times, but rarely painful. And most patients report improvement even after the first visit.

Stay tuned for follow-up treatment videos, as we introduce how Shockwave can address your chronic ailments.
