What Is Dynamic Body Balancing (DBB)?

A Gentle, Whole-Body Approach to Healing Offered by Dr. Jenn Tran, DC, CACCP — Dynamic Body Balancing Facilitator

Dr. Jenn Tran has completed the 100-Hour Dynamic Body Balancing (DBB) Series and is a certified DBB facilitator. As Innate Chiropractic's pregnancy and pediatrics specialist, she brings this training together with her chiropractic and Webster Technique training to offer patients in Albany, Berkeley, El Cerrito, and the greater East Bay an integrative approach to healing the body, brain, and nervous system.

Dynamic Body Balancing is a unique form of myofascial release work, involving gentle, hands-on work with muscles, ligaments, fascia (connective tissue), and the body's energy systems. What sets DBB apart is its use of motion and positioning — sessions are often performed with the patient seated or standing, encouraging the body to move naturally as it rebalances itself.

This technique supports the release of both physical restrictions and stored emotional tension. During a session, patients may gently "unwind" through self-directed movement, allowing for deep fascial and emotional release, with the goal of promoting a lasting sense of healing and relief.

How Dynamic Body Balancing Works:
DBB is grounded in a deep understanding of cranial anatomy and physiology, and integrates several complementary approaches:

  • Myofascial unwinding — gently releasing tight connective tissue
  • Biofield therapy — supporting energetic balance in the body
  • Motion-based therapy — using rhythmic rocking or gentle movement to enhance integration
  • Positional release — working in the body's "position of injury" to facilitate deeper healing
  • This hands-on approach is often performed upright, which removes gravitational compression and allows the body to respond more efficiently — supporting a faster, more lasting resolution of long-standing pain, dysfunction, or trauma.

Who Can Benefit From Dynamic Body Balancing:
DBB is suitable for people of all ages, from newborns to adults.

Perinatal Care:

  • Pregnancy support: uterine ligament balancing, pelvic floor tension relief, labor preparation
  • Labor support: pelvic opening, contraction efficiency
  • Postpartum recovery: pelvic outlet closing, fascial restoration, scar tissue release
  • Birth trauma recovery, for both parent and baby

Pediatric Applications:

  • Tongue and lip ties, oral tension
  • Torticollis and asymmetrical head shape
  • Latching, sucking, and swallowing difficulties
  • Colic, reflux, constipation, bedwetting
  • Delays in crawling or other movement patterns
  • All Ages
  • Headaches, migraines, and concussion recovery
  • TMJ dysfunction, scoliosis, joint or muscle pain
  • Anxiety, depression, ADHD, and learning challenges
  • Respiratory conditions like asthma or sinus issues
  • Emotional trauma and chronic stress
  • Post-surgical or injury recovery

What to Expect During a DBB Session:
Sessions are gentle and collaborative — Dr. Jenn works with the body's own movement patterns rather than applying force. Many patients are treated seated or standing rather than lying down, which allows the body to unwind naturally without the compression of gravity. Sessions can include periods of stillness, gentle rocking, or self-directed movement as the body releases physical and emotional tension.

Frequently Asked Questions (FAQ):
What is Dynamic Body Balancing (DBB)? DBB is a form of myofascial release that combines gentle, hands-on manipulation of muscles, fascia, and the body's energy systems with motion and positioning to help the body release physical and emotional tension.

Is DBB the same as craniosacral therapy? DBB is built on craniosacral principles but goes further by incorporating motion-based and positional release work, often performed seated or standing rather than lying down. This distinguishes it from traditional craniosacral therapy.

Can DBB help with tongue and lip ties in babies? Yes. DBB is commonly used to help address oral tension, latching difficulties, and related feeding challenges in infants, often alongside other pediatric care.

Is DBB safe for newborns and infants? Yes. DBB is gentle and non-invasive, and Dr. Jenn works with patients of all ages, from newborns through adulthood.

How is DBB different from a regular chiropractic adjustment? Unlike a traditional chiropractic adjustment, DBB doesn't involve joint manipulation. Instead, it uses gentle, hands-on techniques and guided movement to help the body release physical and emotional restrictions on its own.

Does insurance cover Dynamic Body Balancing? In short, yes. DBB falls under the umbrella of Myofascial Release, which we bill as 97140.
